Position Overview
LandaJob is working with our client, a personal injury law firm in Downtown Kansas City, to find a driven,execution-focused Marketing & Business Development Director to help expand the firm's referral network, community visibility, client engagement, and overall case-generating growth. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who understands how personal injury firms grow through both strong relationship development and disciplined marketing execution.
** Required – to be considered for this role, candidate must have prior experience in a marketing, business development, or growth-focused role within a personal injury law firm. Candidates without this experience will not be considered nor contacted.
This is not a traditional brand-only marketing position, nor is it a pure sales role. It is a hands-on leadership
opportunity for someone who can build momentum across referral partnerships, events, outreach initiatives, newsletters, client touchpoints, and related growth activities while working closely with firm leadership.
The Marketing & Business Development Director will play a central role in strengthening and expanding the firm's non-digital, relationship-driven growth channels, while also coordinating with external partners supporting broader marketing efforts. This person will work closely with leadership to prioritize initiatives that increase visibility, deepen referral relationships, improve client engagement, and drive signed-case growth.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of how personal injury firms attract and convert business, along with the judgment to balance strategy, execution, follow-up, and results measurement.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and grow referral relationships with chiropractors, physical therapists, medical providers, community partners, and other potential case sources.
• Plan and execute business development and community outreach initiatives that increase local visibility and generate new opportunities for the firm.
• Coordinate and manage sponsorships, events, hosted programs, and networking efforts aligned with firm growth goals.
• Own newsletter and e-newsletter planning, distribution, and consistency of communication with clients, referral sources, and community contacts.
• Oversee client engagement and appreciation initiatives, including follow-up campaigns, Maven gifting, and relationship-nurturing programs.
• Build organized systems and processes for referral tracking, outreach follow-up, contact management, and business development activity.
• Partner with firm leadership to identify high-value growth opportunities and implement them with urgency and accountability.
• Track outcomes tied to referral growth, signed cases, outreach effectiveness, and return on investment.
• Serve as a point of coordination with outside marketing vendors or agencies to help ensure consistency, accountability, and alignment with firm goals.
• Bring forward practical ideas, execute quickly, and contribute as a hands-on operator rather than a passive strategist.

• Prior experience in a marketing, business development, or growth-focused role within a personal injury law firm.
• Demonstrated success building or managing referral relationships and case-generating outreach efforts.
• Experience executing initiatives across community partnerships, events, newsletters, direct mail, client engagement, and related growth channels.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to build process, create follow-up discipline, and manage multiple initiatives at once.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and drive execution without heavy day-to-day direction.
• Comfortable operating in a highly collaborative environment with direct access to firm ownership and leadership.
• Strong communication skills, professional presence, and relationship-building ability.
• Well-suited for someone who enjoys outside sales, proactive outreach, and cold calling as part of building new referral relationships and business opportunities.
• Data-minded approach with the ability to track activity, measure outcomes, and focus on what
produces results.
• Familiarity with personal injury intake and signed-case economics is highly valuable.
