LandaJob News
Big news, LandaJob is expanding! We are welcoming Jeff Remis to the team as our new Director of Business Development. Jeff comes from the staffing industry in Chicago, and we are excited to add him to the LandaJob family.
LandaJob continues our commitment to supporting college students with information about careers and job search. Many colleges and universities do an excellent job, but some are strapped for resources for career services, and we’re always happy to help. This spring, Kathryn moderated a panel of communications professionals visiting from KC/IABC to the University of Central Missouri, attracting an audience of 50+ juniors and seniors eager to ask questions about entering the world of work. Rebecca and Kathryn also presented what has become a twice yearly workshop at Avila University on behalf of AMA-KC, with a special emphasis on use of social media in job search. Rebecca also spent time with design students at Johnson County Community College and the Kansas City Art Institute talking about how to prepare for their upcoming job search.
In the spring, Rebecca chaired what has become a signature event for AAF-KC – Gas Can, a day-long summit on creativity, on June 24th. Attracting hundreds of club members, creatives, and those who work with creative communications, Gas Can delivers a full day of content and inspiration for those who depend on having ideas for a living. Rebecca led the committee, which organized programming, marketing, and logistics, and the event received high marks for the value of its content. Kathryn was invited to create the opening for the day’s program, for which she wrote and recorded the song “Match Can Boom” (the conference theme) in collaboration with Tug McTighe from Callahan Creek, and they performed it live (and loud) to kick things off. Listen to it here: http://www.matchcanboom.com/song/.
In further professional association involvement news, Rebecca was elected as Vice President of Programs for AAF-KC for the 2016-17 board term, and Kathryn is continuing her work with KC/IABC on education relations programs.
