LandaJob News: Fall 2014 Edition
Happy Autumn from LandaJob! And what a great fall it’s been, with postseason baseball returning to Kansas City! We were on the edges of our seats last night, and although we didn’t win the World Series, we are proud of our boys in blue and the way our city has rallied around the team. We are looking forward to postseason baseball being a more regular part of our lives from now on! (Fun Fact: The Royals’ last visit to the postseason was in 1985—the same year LandaJob was founded!)
In addition to watching a lot of baseball, we’ve been fielding a lot of calls from clients. Hiring is on the upswing, which is great news! We’ve also been getting out of the office to speak at industry events. Rebecca Schwartz, our Temporary & Creative Recruiter, was featured on a panel with Jennifer Morgan from Sprint and Dan Barker from Hint at AAF KC’s Advertising 101 (formerly Career Day), speaking to current college students in marketing and advertising about networking and how to have a successful job search. Rebecca has also been a speaker in several design classes at KCAI and will soon be speaking at JCCC about how students can best position themselves to job search after graduation.
Our Senior Recruiter and Career Coach, Kathryn Lorenzen, spoke to around 100 college students from seven different schools at last Friday’s PRSSA Career Day Summit at Sporting Park. Her much-tweeted talk was titled “Staying out of the basement: How to make yourself the most hirable candidate so you get employed fast and avoid moving back to your parents’ house.”
